I struggled for years trying to pick up playing the banjo. Everyone told me to learn music, you memorize song and just play back the notes and rhythm and melody. So, I spent some time researching music theory — modes and relationship within the diatonic scale. I transcribed that education and started making a quick reference and calculator for myself. It turned out I wasn’t the only one it helped. They quickly became popular with my musician friends.
