Scaling up at summer’s end: we’re going to need more nerds

What a season!

We’ve truly excelled — boldly expanding into new ventures this year! We went to new places, brought on new people, and released new designs. We were excited to our efforts were well received. Now what?

We’ve realized this summer:

  • Renaissance Faires are totally our thing! Every single member of our team loves dressing up and having fun. We love the big open sky and our timeless aesthetic of wood and leather really fits in with the 1600s vibes. Coming up: you’ll see our wares tabled at more Faires in more places. Feel free to reach out to us with Faires you’d like to see us at!
  • Comic & Video Game Cons are a bit much. The dressing up was a blast! They’re loud and shiny. The outdoor artists markets we started at spoiled us — no flashing lights and amplified music. It was a culture shock to step into a world of techno blasting from booths with flashing lights and video screens. While an obvious partner and a popular market for our wares, we’re brainstorming how we best want to enter the gaming-adjacent space. If you know of obvious partners, please let us know.
  • We’ve never been to a gaming-centric con. We sell games and gaming accessories. We’re popular. We’re scaling to meet demand and looking into alternatives to in-person distribution. Why haven’t we gone to table top gaming cons? The biggest reason is we’ve been scaling into our existing markets — nerdy stuff in Oregon. Simply put, Oregon isn’t exactly known for their big gaming conventions. We’re making a list of gaming cons to attend. The big west coast events are on our calendar for 2025, but are we ready to venture out into the rest of the world? Find out next episode of PPZ!
  • We need partners in scaling. Everywhere we go, we’re loved. We sell well. We love going to market. That said, our passion is design and production. It’s what we’re good at. Our reach into the market world isn’t nearly as deep as it should be, and ideally we would have a team dedicated to boothing. The logistics of adding a whole branch to our cozy craft business is in the works. To focus on what we really love, we’re looking for dedicated boothlings who want to partner and specialize. If you’re already managing a market front and want to include our designs, please let us know!

Wrapping up the year

We’ve scheduled out the rest of the year, and it’s looking fantastic! You can check our calendar to see where we’ll be next. We’re gearing up for some exciting months ahead — a couple of festive holiday markets and our weekly arts booth at the lively Portland Saturday Market.

During this time, we’re planning some thrilling changes. We’ve expanded our workshop floor, have countless promising leads to follow up on, and plenty of exciting research to do on various events. Marketing in person as a designer always leads to amazing conversations that ignite creativity. People have been wonderful with suggesting different events, offering product feedback, and sharing their passion for the nerdy accessory world.

With all this input, we’re primed to explore new horizons and create innovative products. We can’t wait to see you on our journey!
